Dogs are not known for their yodeling skills. Yet, there are some breeds that have a natural affinity for making noises that sound like they are yodeling.
The most common type of dog yodel is the howl. This sound is usually made when a dog is trying to get someone’s attention or when they want to let other dogs know where they are located. The pitch of this howl can be adjusted depending on the situation and the dog’s vocal chords can produce different frequencies in order to create different sounds like barks, whimpers, growls and even screams.
Another type of dog yodel is called the “yip-yap”, which sounds similar to a coyote’s call. This noise is often heard when dogs play with each other or if one of them spots prey from afar.
